The King and I
Direct from Broadway’s Golden Age, The King and I will
impress with elaborate costumes, striking sets and a storybook
romance. Set in 19th Century old world Bangkok prior to Western
influences, the King’s many children are governed by the
beautiful Anna, who influences the King to consider the Western
ways opposed to the current Dictatorship. The menacing King’s
Minister and top advisor wants Democracy kept out of the country’s
culture. Conflicted, King Mongkut becomes easily influenced as
he begins to fall in love with the lovely Anna. The wonderful
score features music you know and love including, “Whistle
a Happy Tune,” “Getting to Know You,” “Hello,
Young Lovers” and “Shall We Dance?” Do not
miss this extravagant production! The many children on stage
will leave you smiling from ear to ear!
